Zaheer Khan, who is the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), presented his disagreement with the pitch conditions at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow.
LSG lost the IPL match against Punjab Kings at home by eight wickets on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer’s side managed to win their second straight game in the IPL 2025 as they chased 172 runs.
Punjab, who took just 16.2 overs to win the game against LSG, beat the Gujarat Titans by 11 runs last week.
LSG mentor Zaheer Khan felt that the pitch condition became a core reason behind losing the game.
He said: “What was a little disappointing for me here was it’s a home game, and in IPL you’ve seen how teams have looked at taking a little bit of home advantage. So from that point of view, you’ve seen the curator is not really thinking that it’s a home game. I think maybe it looked like it was Punjab’s curator out here. So that’s something which we’ll figure out.”
However, it was Pant’s side who failed to score a 200-plus total.
LSG captain Pant only scored two runs in five balls. As a result, LSG have lost two of their first three games in the IPL 2025.
And Pant has flopped in all of the first three games this season.
However, Shreyas Iyer scored another half-century for his new side. The former KKR captain scored unbeaten 52 runs and helped Punjab to maintain their unbeaten run in the IPL 2025.
Punjab have a 100 per cent winning ratio in the IPL, having won their first two matches.
