William Chisholm’s passion for basketball seems massive, agreeing to buy the Boston Celtics for around $6.1 billion.
The deal has broken all records for buying a sports team in the United States of America. However, the NBA’s board of governors still need to approve the deal in the summer.
So now the question comes who is William Chisholm?
This deal has made him indeed a worldwide sensation.
Chisholm, 56, is a childhood Boston Celtics fan. He even spent his early days in Boston.
After the deal was done, the fan of the Celtics made a statement and said he lived in Massachusetts’ North Shore region.
He said: “I understand how important the Celtics are to the city of Boston — the role the team plays in the community is different than any other city in the country.”
Even Chisholm’s schooling was done in the Northeast. From Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, he completed his B.A. degree.
He then went to the Wharton School in Philadelphia, back in 1966 to earn a degree in ‘Strategic Management’.
Chisholm has made his wealth from investments in tech. It was 2002 when he became the co-founder of Symphony Technology Group in Menlo Park, California.
The company works in the field of tech investing like data, software and analytics. In 2022, he did buy McAfee Enterprise and FireEye. Survey Monkey-parent Momentive is also one of the companies under the umbrella of STG.
The 2023 data does suggest that the firm’s has raised $10 billion. Chisholm’s company holds over 100 investments all over the world.
He was associated with Bain & Co. and PaineWebber before STG. Kimberly is the name of his wife, with whom they have three children. In the Bay Area, STG is located. But Nantucket is the place where he has a house.
However, he is planning to buy a house in Boston too.
