Amanda Serrano is unhappy with Katie Taylor for not agreeing to a 12-three-minute round ahead of the massive trilogy.
Both female boxing stars are set to battle at Madison Square Garden in New York on 11 July.
In professional women’s boxing, the set rule is every round is two minutes and only max 10 rounds can take place. However, males can have 12 rounds in total where every round lasts for three minutes.
Serrano felt that as the last two fights happened in a 10-round rule system, this was a great chance for them to start a new chapter in female fight sport.
Serrano, who lost the first two fights against Taylor, said: “We shook on it. If you can roll the tapes, we shook on it. She didn’t agree when we went to sign the contract.”
“If that’s her choice then that’s her choice, but I believe that women should get the recognition and the equality that the men get.”
Taylor did not stop after hearing Serrano’s feelings and replied: “I think as a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn’t be dictating the terms of the fight.”
“I am 2-0 here and I’m in the driver’s seat here and that’s only right. At the end of the day Amanda needs this fight a lot more than I do.
“I have a long history of big fights against big names and a line of people queuing up to fight me for the payday.”
The fight in July will be for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight title.
