T20 specialist Nicholas Pooran played a powerful knock of 70 runs in just 26 balls, leading the Lucknow Super Giants to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
After winning the toss, Lucknow elected to bowl first.
The injury-hit bowling lineup of LSG gave away 190/9 in 20 overs.
Travis Head again gave a decent start to the home side, adding 47 runs. However, SRH’s hero against Rajasthan Royals Ishan Kishan got out in the first ball he faced.
Shardul Thakur did shine, taking four wickets for Rishabh Pant’s side.
Lucknow did not get the right start. Opener Aiden Markram got out early.
But Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran scored crucial half-centuries to put LSG in a comfortable position.
Marsh added 52 runs in 31 balls. Pooran smashed 70 runs in 26 deliveries.
However Pant flopped again with the bat, adding 15 runs only. Even Ayush Badoni lost the wicket after adding just six runs.
LSG’s Abdul Samad (22 runs) and David Miller (13 runs) remained calm and guided their side to finish the game in 16.1 overs.
