The International Olympic Committee has made it clear only six nations will take part in cricket at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Each team can have 15 players in the squad for the men’s and women’s. However, there is no clarity over the qualification process.
Several sports experts feel that the IOC has added cricket to the Olympics to make the event famous in India.
It will be a T20 event in Los Angeles. Last year, India won the T20 World Cup.
IOC president Kirsty Coventry, before taking over the position, had a meeting with International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah last month to make cricket’s smooth entry.
The 1900 Paris Olympics was the first and only time, where cricket was a part of the Olympics. Back then, Great Britain beat hosts France by 158 runs to win the gold medal.
