Mohammed Siraj took three crucial wickets against his former side Royal Challengers Bengaluru as Gujarat Titans ended RCB’s unbeaten run in the Indian Premier League 2025.
GT won the game by eight wickets away from home, chasing the target of 170 runs in 17.5 overs.
Siraj took the wickets of Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal and Liam Livingstone, helping GT to restrict Bengaluru to not set a huge target at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
RCB, who did bat first after losing the toss, scored 169 runs at the cost of eight wickets in 20 overs. And not to forget that Gujarat’s star bowler Rashid Khan gave away 54 runs in four overs in this match.
Unlike RCB, Gujarat did not make mistakes while batting. Despite Shubman Gill losing the wicket after adding just 14 runs, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler stuck to the plan and guided their team to collect two crucial points.
Buttler smashed an unbeaten 73 runs in 39 balls. Buttler first made a decent partnership with Sudharsan (scored 49 runs) and then finished the game in style with Sherfane Rutherford, who added a quick 30 runs in 18 balls.
Before losing the game against GT, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, firstly, beat KKR in the IPL 2025 opener and then defeated CSK away from home last week.
Gujarat approached this game after winning one of their first two IPL 2025 matches.
Now both sides have won two of their first three games this season. It is also the first defeat of Rajat Patidar as the RCB captain.
Siraj, who was part of RCB from 2018 to 2024, shone well against his former team and took three crucial wickets.
In fact, the India international clinched the wicket of Liam Livingstone from the set position. Livingstone did bat well, adding 54 runs in 40 balls, before losing his wicket to Siraj.
Livingstone did get help from wicket-keeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma, contributing with a knock of 33 runs.
However, captain Virat Kohli and others failed to shine this time around.
