Helmut Marko, who is the Red Bull motorsport adviser, is worried about Max Verstappen’s future at Red Bull.
Last Sunday, the deafening F1 champion driver finished sixth in the Bahrain Grand Prix and saw McLaren’s Oscar Piastri win the race yet again this season.
McLaren have now won three of the first four races in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Verstappen is in third position in the drivers’ championship, eight points behind McLaren’s Lando Norris (leader).
Seeing all these problems at the start of the 2025 F1 season, Marko told to Sky Germany: “The concern is great. Improvements have to come in the near future so that he has a car with which he can win again.
“We have to create a basis with a car so that he can fight for the world championship.”
Verstappen holds a long-standing deal with Red Bull until 2028. But Marko did tell the media earlier that Verstappen has a performance-related clause.
It means a lack of form can make him leave the team sooner. The cause requires Red Bull to provide him with the winning car only (best-in-class).
