Ishan Kishan’s childhood coach feels his impressive start in the 2025 Indian Premier League can open the doors for India’s comeback.
In Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals, Kishan blasted an unbeaten mega-century.
The former Mumbai Indians wicketkepper-batsman scored 106 in 47 balls.
This led SRH to score a massive 286/6 in 20 overs, making a sublime total. Kishan got help from his SRH teammates to score that big at home.
RR tried to make a strong comeback, but they were able to add 242/6 in 20 overs.
The home side won the game by 44 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.
As a result, Ishan Kishan led SRH to a massive victory on Sunday. Kishan’s IPL debut was also for SRH.
Seeing such a great performance, Kishan’s childhood coach ‘Uttam Mazumdar’ is optimistic about his India comeback.
“This innings could open the doors back to the Indian team. My blessings are with him and he should keep playing this way. There are so many series coming, such as Asia Cup and T20 World Cup (in 2026), I think the way he plays and his world record (of fastest double century in ODIs) will never be forgotten. He did well in the domestic season, scored centuries and in the intra-squad practice matches before this IPL, he scored three fifties. This knock will give him a lot of confidence,” said Uttam.
The 26-year-old wicket-keeper-batsman played his last game for India in any format on 28 November 2023 versus Australia (T20I).
