It is fair to say April 2025 is the best month of Declan Rice’s career as a professional footballer. Last week in North London, Rice scored two goals via free-kick and helped the Gunners win the home leg 3-0 against Real Madrid in the Champions Legaue quarters.
On Wednesday, Arsenal won the away leg 2-1 thanks to second-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Real scored just once in both legs, and that too in the second leg, courtesy of Vinicius Junior.
At the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Rice did perform well (as per Arsenal legend Martin Keown).
The English commentator did like how Rice stopped his England teammate Jude Bellingham from making any impact.
Keown said: “Declan Rice was up against Jude Bellingham and there was only one winner. He was absolutely magnificent.”
Last year, Bellingham was one of the key players who helped Real Madrid win their 15th European top-flight title.
Now in the semis, the Gunners will be up against French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
