Dewald Brevis is the replacement of Gurjapneet Singh, who is being ruled out for the remaining Indian Premier League season due to an injury.
Brevis, who made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023, is now a new addition to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad.
The 21-year-old is known for his exceptional batting skills in T20, having scored 1,787 runs in 81 matches.
From 2022 to 2023, Brevis was a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI). He played 10 times for MI in the IPL and scored 230 runs.
Having played twice for SA in T20Is, he has scored just five runs.
His highest score in T20 is 162 runs. Meanwhile, CSK will face the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 on Sunday.
