Harvey Barnes’ second-half brace, Sandro Tonali’s first-half goal and Bruno Guimaraes’ second-half strike helped Newcastle United humiliate Manchester United 4-1 at home on Sunday.
Alejandro Garnacho, 20, was the only player to score a goal for the Red Devils.
United, who will next face Lyon at home in the Europa League quarters second leg on Thursday, had a 2-2 draw last week away from home in the first leg.
But it’s their form in the Premier League that has made the fans and pundits worried. Out of 32 games played in the English top-flight, they have lost 14 (winning just 10 with eight draws).
Former Man United captain Roy Keane felt that players first apologise to the fans but they do not rectify the mistakes.
He said on Sky Sports: “To be fair to Bruno Fernandes he fronts up, but to me it’s just soundbites now.”
As six games are left to be played in the PL this season, United have high chances of losing even kore games.
He added: “The best players I played with put demands on me and wouldn’t tolerate me cutting corners. That’s what really good teammates do. These aren’t teammates, they are bluffers.”
Keane and several other football pundits feel that Man United need to change most players in the squad to be ready to fight at the top of the PL table.
