Ahead of the fight against Paddy Pimblett at the UFC 314 in Miami on Saturday, Michael Chandler feels unhappy with cheating accusations.
The American MMA star is just a few days away from facing Pimblett in a five-round co-main event at Kaseya Center.
Chandler, who is the ex-Bellator champion, is facing allegations of cheating in his recent fights/losses to Dustin Poirier at the Madison Square Garden and Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.
The 38-year-old MMA star was asked to defend these accusations ahead of the lightweight fight, he said: “I mean, the narrative is tough, man.”
“People don’t really know me. Unless you’re in my inner circle, you don’t know who I truly am outside of in front of the camera. People have their sneaky suspicions that I play nice in front of the camera, and I’m a bad guy behind the camera. You’re always going to have those accusations, right?”
Chandler’s first UFC fight was against Dan Hooker at the UFC 257 on January 24, 2021.
Since making his octagon debut in Jan 2021, he has won just two of his six fights. Hooker and Tony Ferguson are Chandler’s only two victories. However, he has lost against Charles Oliveira twice and once when facing Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier.
His upcoming contest is against England’s Pimblett, who has won all of his six fights in the UFC.
Meanwhile, Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes is leading the show at the UFC 314.
